“She Sings Me Home” premiere on Feb. 6th at Green Room 42

“She Sings Me Home” an original musical by Artemis Montague, arranged/orchestrated by Angela and Christopher Bullé-Goyri, with music direction by Angela, was presented in concert format The Green Room 42 on Feb. 6th.

The musical, featuring Temidayo Amay, Kat Rodriguez, Uju Betta and Aaron Ahmad, centers on the story of two young Black queer women - one cis, the other trans - who fall for each other in a mental health ward and find themselves subject the ills, alliances, and community of the ward. They experience camaraderie, heartache, violence, and love while trying to survive, and the audience will learn what it can be like for people on the margins to survive something as jarring and traumatizing as a mental health ward. Romantic love, friendship, serious mental illness, self-love, abuse, and explored. The music is influenced by rock, gospel, blues, jazz, and some pop genres. Think if Alanis Morissette and Lauryn Hill wrote a musical about mental health.
